This contemporary painting was completed very quickly (about 4 hours) the aim being to use vigorous brush strokes and limited colours to cut out a figurative image of horse racing. Close up it appears as no more than blobs and dashes of paint, the subject matter becomes obvious the further away from the painting one gets. No visual aids were used to complete this piece.

This lonely shoreline with only seagulls for company is one a series. The painting was completed wholly in studio with no reference to photographs or other media and represents my memories of the sea and shore, the painting was intended to be reflective of a wintery mood with the clouds lit by diffuse light.

Entirely imaginary, completed without the use of photographs the only aid being a horse mannequin, ‘Everyone a Winner’ uses broken lines and incomplete subjects to create a sense of speed. In reality the eye only sees fragments of fast motion so the piece has to reflect that to create an illusion, the adage ‘less is more’ applies. The title reflects the figures relative positions the winner could be any of them!
